June 24-26 I was at youth conference which was a Pioneer Trek this year. It was only 3 days…but it was busy. Here is how it went:
First of all I made a compilation of funny movies and pictures I took.
And to see the photobook I made click here.
AND to see the LONG trek movie Click Here!!!
At 7 am we got to the stake center and brought our stuff in…
worked on making a wooden spoon…mine was pretty pathetic. They also gave us a little shoulder bag.
And we had opening exercises and info about what we were about to do.
We rode on charter buses. Hard. I know. This is ours…its name is The Silver Bullet. And this is the inside of the bus. Pretty fancy eh?But of course our bus broke down…why not? So there was a 2 hour delay. Finally we got there and started trekking.
Here is my friend Breanna again…she just happened to be in my trek family!
We had to stop ever mile…which was a pain… plus our family was the strongest and fastest so stopping and slowing down was hard for us. We couldn’t pass anyone either. Our ma came up with our family name: The Muscle Tribe of Excellence and Danger. It fit us very well. After 2 miles it was time for the Mormon Battalion. All the guys went and marched somewhere else.
We said goodbye…And us girls got going with the handcarts.
After two miles we met back up with the guys and got back on the buses to go back to camp. Yeah…air conditioned buses to and from everything.
The camp was behind this really old school and across from a neighborhood…which was a little wired. And each family made their own dinners in dutch ovens. And morning came before we knew it. We made breakfast.
Breanna is a really good cook so she did most of the cooking.
Our first “trial” was that we had to walk with our shoes off for 10 minuets…which actually felt really good.
Our second trial was our ma got “sick” and we had to take half of our buckets out and carry them and put ma on the cart. She then started feeling sick from just being on it. Our third trial was that our wagon wheel “broke” and we either had to carry all our buckets and pull our cart to this one point or carry the cart with the buckets in it to the other point. We picked carrying the cart. It was very heavy but I only had to lift up a wheel.
We were all very tired after trekking around 15 miles or so. (I still don’t know exactly haw far we went)
Our fourth trial was a great blessing. We had to go through this shallow river…which felt sooo good. It took my swelling feet right down to normal size (for a few minuets)! We walked around in the water for about ten minuets before we had to keep going. At the end our pa, another boy and I ran the last quarter mile with the wagon. We just wanted to finish! I was so tired and I had a small headache for a few minuets. It was so wonderful to get onto the air conditioned bus.I found the sign in the bus interesting for some reason. (Maybe its the “bunny ears”.)After all that work and heat we found this shady, breezy spot to cool off. Our tents were even worse than being out in the sun so it was yet another happy moment when we could kick back and relax in the cool shade.
Then we had free time until lights out. The next day we got to wear our shirts that the stake gave us. We made breakfast and packed up. Half of the people went to a museum but the other half (which I was in) couldn’t go because we didn’t have time. So we had a little more free time.On the way home most of us slept part of the time.

That sounds like you had a pretty good time! BTW, I only understood about half of the video because of all the sarcasm… JK I think I figured (most of) it out. But cool video!
